Forest Electric New Jersey (Forest NJ) led this cogeneration project that utilized a single outdoor combustion turbine generator and a single heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) at a new Ortho Clinical Diagnostics headquarters extension facility. Forest NJ provided the engineering, design, and construction for this 1.5-MW, 11,000-pounds-per-hour steam, combined heat, and power plant that produces approximately half of the facility’s required energy.
Client Objectives
Ortho Clinical Diagnostics wanted to build a new cogeneration system that would partially power a new 3,500-square-foot facility extension at their Raritan headquarters.
Solutions
Forest NJ provided construction, engineering, and design services during the project, including:
- Design and construction of a 1.5-MW gas combustion turbine generator
- Design and construction of an 11,000-pounds-per-hour HRSG
- Installation of all HRSG components, including evaporator, economizer, steam drum, and stack
- Advising and assisting client with equipment selection and securing of long-term service agreements
- Development of on-site staffing strategy to include four boiler operators, one supervisor, and various vendor service providers
