Forest Electric New Jersey (Forest NJ) provided electrical contracting services during the client’s laboratory expansion. Forest NJ utilized its BIM engineering department to increase interdepartmental synergy and completed substantial portions of project work at our fabrication shop. Additionally, we leveraged lean building principles to manage material intake, sorting, and delivery to the job site, eliminating on-site waste and enhancing overall project safety.
Client Objectives
The client wanted to expand laboratory facilities at its Raritan location in order to create new labs and support increased office space.
Solutions
During the project, we provided a full suite of electrical installation services, including:
- Two new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and a total rebuild of an existing UPS
- Four 5KV substation upgrades that included new circuit breakers and feeders
- 79 new branch circuit panels
- 16 new distribution panels
- 20 new transformers ranging in size from 15KVA to 225KVA
- 43 new 600V disconnect switches
- Fire alarm upgrading
- Completely new power and lighting systems
- New low-voltage raceways and cable trays
- Installation of 34 variable frequency drives (VFDs) and multiple roof-top units
- Design and installation of all audio/visual components
